Maria was School Crossing Guard in the Yuma, Arizona area. Maria loved the students and greeted them personally which gave her a cool grandma vibe. On September 1, 2022, Maria was covering her corner at the intersection of 24th and 8th avenue when she was struck by a Toyota RAV4. Chavez was taken to the hospital, but died from her injuries on September 7, 2022.
