For Ida the charge to mold the minds of children toward an intellectual, social and ethical maturity is one of the greatest responsibilities a human can undertake. To influence attitudes, values and realities places the teacher on an important rung of the developmental ladder of human growth. Dark believes that excellence in education is crucial to maintaining a strong democracy and competitive economy, and is the primary means of solving the problems plaguing America today.
